Watches, and the time we keep with them.

Human Time Project is for collectors, horologists and the newly curious. We write about the extraordinary pieces at the top of the craft and the affordable watches that have a design of their own, and we collect the stories of the watches people inherit, give and repair.

Start with the basics

What's here
  1. Collecting

Movements, complications, starting a collection, and buying pre-owned without getting burned.

  2. Grail Watches

The pieces collectors dream about, and the history that made them matter.

  3. Affordable Character

Reasonably priced watches with an identity of their own. Not copies.

  4. The Time We Keep

Your stories: a grandfather's watch, a graduation gift, a repair that brought one back.

How we work

We describe watches from what the makers publish and from documented history. We don't claim to have tested a watch unless we actually have, and we say which is which. Where a fact matters, we link the source.

We leave prices out. They change too often, and a stale price is worse than none.

No fakes. Not even "inspired by."

Some sites sell the luxury look by copying it: the same case, the same dial, sometimes the same logo. We don't cover replicas, counterfeits or homages that lift another brand's design, and we never link to them.

A watch can be affordable and still be itself. That's what our Affordable Character section is about.
