Affordable Character · Watches with their own design

Affordable, and still itself.

Reasonably priced watches with a real identity. Never a copy.

The luxury look doesn't have to come from copying. These watches are reasonably priced, widely sold, and each has a design you'd recognize as its own maker's. We describe them from published specs and documented history. We haven't tested them hands-on, and we don't show prices. Check the maker's site for the current models and specs.

Our line: no replicas, no counterfeits, and no homages that copy another brand's case, dial or logo. "Looks like a Submariner for a fraction of the price" isn't a selling point here.

Casio G-Shock DW-5600

Descended from the first G-Shock, the DW-5000C of 1983, which was designed to survive a ten-meter drop. The square case is now a design icon in its own right.

Solar diver

Citizen Promaster Diver (BN0150 family)

Citizen's Eco-Drive watches recharge from any light, so there's no battery to swap on a schedule. This diver has its own chunky, purpose-built case rather than a borrowed design.

Automatic

Seiko 5 Sports

The "5" line goes back to 1963, and it's how many collectors got their first automatic. The modern Sports range uses Seiko's own in-house automatic movements.

Dress automatic

Orient Bambino

A simple dress watch with a domed crystal and a vintage-style dial. Orient (part of Seiko Epson) makes its own movements, which is unusual at this price.
